Gridin’s Group participates in a refurbishment of Berth I Puttgarden project in Germany
Puttgarden is a ferry harbour and a village on the German island of Fehmarn. It lies on an important route between Germany and Denmark known as the Vogelfluglinie which crosses the 18 kilometres strait, the Fehmarnbelt, to Rødby on the island of Lolland.
Scandlines has entered into a contract with Cemre Shipyard, Turkey, to build an emissions-free freight ferry for its route between Puttgarden, Germany, and Rødby, Denmark.
It will be possible to transport trucks on both the upper and lower decks. This will require Berth 3 in Rødby and Berth 1 in Puttgarden to be rebuilt to be able to also load trucks on the upper deck. At the same time, a new lorry storage area will be established in the terminal of Puttgarden.
Scandlines Deutschland Gmb is expanding the loading ramp in the Puttgarden ferry port within ferry Berth I by constructing a new steel bridge. Significant renovation work will be carried out within the port area (demolition, surface construction, deep foundations, reinforced concrete structures, relocation of media). The Gridin’s Group team in this project is responsible for manufacturing the bridge’s steel structures, including 6 Ramps and 1 Linkspan. The steel construction manufacturing works at our partners' yard in Stralsund, Germany, started at the beginning of April and are scheduled to continue until the end of July.
The total weight of the steel structures intended for bridge construction is approximately 700 tons.
